Namibia Safaris

Namibia is a land of wide open spaces and a quiet desolation which is sure to leave a lasting impression.

For safari purposes, the country can be split into four main topographical regions: the Namib Desert and coastal plains in the west, the eastward-sloping Central Plateau, the Kalahari along the borders with South Africa and Botswana and the densely wooded bushveld of the Kavango and Caprivi regions.

Home to some of the world’s grandest national parks, Namibia offers exceptional experiences within this unforgiving terrain. Explore the wildlife-rich Etosha National Park in North-western Namibia, and the dune fields and desert plains of the Namib-Naukluft Park in Western Namibia. The nation’s geographical and commercial centre is Windhoek, in the Central Highlands, while surfers and beach-lovers will delight in Swakopmund.

The opportunity to view and photograph numerous species is a highlight of Etosha National Park, where game viewing is enhanced by the lack of vegetation obstructing the stunning views of the wildlife around the park’s water holes. On safari here, the thrill of the chase between various animals is highly probable because game concentrations can be relied upon and there is a particularly high proportion of predators to herbivores.

The Sossusvlei is a clay pan within the Namib-Naukluft National Park and one of the most amazing sights in Namibia. Where else can you witness red sand dunes that drift 300m into the air? A photographer’s paradise, expect surreal shapes, colours, textures and landscapes on your safari experience, accentuated by the ancient trees and hardy wildlife such as gemsbok, springbok and ostrich.

The remote Caprivi is crossed by two major rivers, the Okavango and Kwando, while the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers form the north-east and south-east boundaries. Unlike any other part of Namibia it is lush, verdant and well watered. The area’s riverine forests are teeming with mammals and copious species of aquatic birds. In fact, you’ll be spoilt for choice with elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hippo and many more providing stunning game viewing.
